Hi Philis. You're going to need to take off the covers, remove the power board, motor, rigidity plate, and light harness. Then you'll be at the point where you can remove the head frame. If you need service, you should go to your local Bernina dealer, as it's unlikely that if you took the machine apart that you could get it back together and it function normally. There's a reason why we get paid to do it. Most of us have been trained by Bernina.

I am interested in a carrying case for my Janome Horizon and also a cabinet that the Horizon would fit in. Please send me information on both.

Thank you and bless you,

I have a 12000, and I cannot get it to recognize my USB stick. I was told to buy a new one but that has not worked either. I was told when I put the USB stick in that it might take up to 15 mins to recognize it and two signs should come up; EMB and Ordinary. Neither of these have happened. and I have not been able to transfer any patterns from my laptop. The window that shows an icon to send is not light up. I am pulling my hair out after trying to get this to work for two weeks, and I am not computer literate. Can anybody help please?

Yes please, will it fit the Janome Memory Craft 6500? I would love one... and I have the 1/4" foot, but I sew with a scant 1/4". Please let me know!

Thank-you, Thank-you, Thank-you...There is no information in the instruction book for Janome MB-4 telling you that you have to put the usb stick into the machine first. I nearly had my hair pulled out, wondering why it was not working. Thank you very much for all your help.

Becky, the issue discussed in this blog post is an isolated problem that only effects 3160QDC machines produced well over a year ago. If you are buying a new machine that was produced more recently than that, you shouldn't have the problem. In the price range your dealer is going to sell the Janome 3160 to you for, you could get a DC5100, which I like better. You might check out that model before buying the Janome 3160. The best thing you can do when buying a sewing machine is sew on it before you buy it. Bring your own fabrics and thread so you know how it sews! Sew fast, so slow, and sew on different weights of fabric. If your dealer won't let you do that, then you might go somewhere else.
